What Maisie Knew
What Maisie Knew
Divorce seen through the eyes of the child...
...and filmed accordingly - the camera is frequently placed at Maisie's eye level; it follows her; it focuses on her.
Onata Aprile is mesmerizing. And impeccably dressed - reminds me of In The Mood for Love which is no small feat.
The (main) characters are not black and white / good and bad... a fact which manages to minimize the sentimentality that such a subject involves.
Minimalistic / low key - featuring some beautiful frames / interiors.
Flawless acting!
Based on a (Victorian era) novel by Henry James.
One step away from being great.
